Top 10 Brunches in Durham

"A mere decade ago, Durham was known as the awkward and potentially dangerous member of the set of cities that makes up North Carolina’s Triangle region. Now however, its downtown has reversed and its restaurant scene keeps racking up accolades from such notable outlets as The New York Times, Gourmet, Southern Living, and Bon Appetit. Use this guide as a starting point in Durham for everyone’s favourite weekend meal: brunch."

Carolina Epicurean Thinks Guglhupf Takes the Cake

"First to arrive at our upstairs table was a basket of fantastic Guglhupf Bakery breads. The problem with this is that it pained me not to be able to eat all it all....How many restaurants do you know that have a dedicated Charcuterie Chef? And one that happens to be an A-B Tech Culinary graduate?!?... Take a few minutes to look around. Look at the details. Many architectural features like the handrail leading to the second floor are custom made."

SKIMBACO Lifestyle - Guglhupf

"Durham is quickly becoming known as a place for foodies to rejoice because it has some of the best culinary restaurants in North Carolina. My husband and I took the assignment of finding a restaurant for the evening very seriously...We chose Guglhupf. It was fantastic. I felt as if I had been transported into a German Biergarten."

Saveur - Guglhupf Bakery

"French-style bakeries get plenty of praise, but let's not forget that Germany also has a strong bread-baking tradition. Guglhupf founder/owner Claudia Kemmet-Cooper grew up in Deutschland, and her Durham bakery reflects her nostalgia for her home country's artisans. Case in point, the Five Grain loaf. With an interior texture that's reminiscent of pound cake and a seed-laden crust, this bread reaches its full potential when toasted and blanketed in peanut butter."
