Carolina Epicurean Enjoys Parker & Otis, Scratch and Mateo

On Parker and Otis: "Parker and Otis is a one-stop happy place..."

On Scratch: "When there’s a public cry for “more!”, places like Scratch Bakery happen. Owner/Pastry Chef Phoebe Lawless went from home production, to borrowed commercial kitchen, to her own shop in 2010, due to demand – plain and simple. And like folks in Durham, you’ll find her pastries are simple, but in no way what you’d call plain."

On Mateo: "It was wonderful - probably the best dinner we’ve had in Durham "

Carolina Epicurean Thinks Guglhupf Takes the Cake

"First to arrive at our upstairs table was a basket of fantastic Guglhupf Bakery breads. The problem with this is that it pained me not to be able to eat all it all....How many restaurants do you know that have a dedicated Charcuterie Chef? And one that happens to be an A-B Tech Culinary graduate?!?... Take a few minutes to look around. Look at the details. Many architectural features like the handrail leading to the second floor are custom made."

Carolina Epicurean Enjoys Elodie Farms

"Just half an hour North of downtown Durham, feeling more like a million miles away, Elodie Farms sits on 27 picturesque acres...After touring the farm, I took a walk through the farm house. I loved the built-ins and colors, but especially loved the remodeled kitchen."
